Hotel Centro Torremolinos

I recently went to Torremolinos for a four day holiday. What a fantastic break!

We booked our hotel a few weeks before we went and at such a great deal we weren’t expecting much, however, in the coming days up to our arrival date I read the reviews online for the hotel. Well this left shivers, most reviews were pretty bad. People complaining about no hot water, no air conditioning, no swimming pool (which we already knew as it is under construction). Others complained the food wasn’t great and the place was too nosy. We had already paid for the hotel so couldn’t pull out now, we had to just go and hope for the best.

We took the train from the airport and walked the maybe 3 minutes from the station at Torremolinos to our hotel. We arrived at about 12 but unfortunately check in wasn’t until 3 (which we also already knew) so the hotel let us leave our bags in a safe storage room while we went off to explore our new surroundings. The hotel was literally in the centre of everything, shops, restaurants, pubs and just a short 5-10 minute walk from the beach. There are about 60 steps down to the beach which in the heat can be a little difficult but they also have a lift that you can take instead at a charge of 50cent. We aren’t really beach goers but we did go down once or twice to explore the lower part of the centre and the second time we took the lift. Other than the beach and a few cafes and bars there wasn’t a whole lot down there so we stayed up around our hotel area 98% of the time.

Anyway after 3pm on the day we arrived we went back to check in to the hotel, the staff were really nice and we got a room on the 4th floor. Luckily there was a lift in the hotel which worked fine, got up to our room and we were pleasantly surprised. It was very clean, there was shower gel, shampoo, fresh towels, nice bed sheets, a tv. What more could we ask for! Okay there was no balcony but there are rooms with a balcony just at an extra cost so we didn’t go for it. At first we thought the air con didn’t work but we just needed to get a remote control for it at reception which wasn’t a problem. We took showers one after another and the water temp was perfect for both.

We never actually ate in the hotel because the variety around it was so good there was no need as we wanted to be out in the sun and lovely surroundings anyway. On the second day we decided to go to a waterpark called Aqualand, it was the best day out and only a ten minute walk from our hotel.

The cleaners came around to the room everyday with fresh towels etc, the staff were also pleasant and other than the pool not being ready I really don’t know why people would not want to stay here. We had great sleeps every night and heard very little around us.

It’s a basic 3 star hotel, there are no frills, no glitz and glamour just clean and friendly, the location alone is worth every penny. I for one will definitely stay here again!
